| Breaking News | | Friday, August 23rd, 2013: #1 Pitcher Picked for 2013 The Ft. Collins clubhouse staff referred to him as "the kid" this season. Next year Alfred Rankin will have to have a new nickname. He earned it after winning the 2013 Sub League 2 AA Outstanding Pitcher Award.
Rankin made 24 starts this year, winning 13 and losing 6. He threw 148.1 innings, fanned 92, allowed 138 hits and 82 walks, while holding opposing teams to a .243 average as he logged an impressive 3.94 ERA. | | Saturday, August 3rd, 2013: Ertl Gets 5 Hits "Believe it or not," said Jersey City catcher David Ertl, "they threw me some good pitches today."
That would be hard to believe for anyone who saw him dispose of the Titanics with a great 5-hit performance.
"He made it look easy," said the Ft. Collins manager, who saw his team fall to the Jersey City Fissures, 14-10. "Hats off to him!"
D. Ertl doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off D. Goodfellow in the 8th.
This year Ertl has socked 85 hits in 275 at-bats for a .309 average with 1 home run. He is getting on base at a .365 pace and his totals also include 34 RBIs and 37 runs scored. | | Sunday, June 23rd, 2013: Hood Goes 5-5 "It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Alvin Hood after his 5-hit performance against the Titanics. "No offense meant to Ft. Collins, but it was like I was back in little league again. I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Bucs Ballpark."
The Brighton right fielder had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and pacing his club to a 10-2 victory.
His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Alvin worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."
"That's what I'm trying to do," Hood said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
A. Hood hit a solo-shot off C. Soseki in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 4th, doubled in the 7th and tripled in the 9th.
This year Hood has 7 home runs and a .382 batting average. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 58-62, .483 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 14.0 GB | | Record at home | 26-34, .433 PCT | | Record on the road | 32-28, .533 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 6-8, .429 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 15-18, .455 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 25-19, .568 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 33-43, .434 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 3-7, .300 PCT | | Record in April | 19-9, .679 PCT | | Record in May | 14-15, .483 PCT | | Record in June | 11-14, .440 PCT | | Record in July | 11-18, .379 PCT | | Record in August | 3-6, .333 PCT |
