| Breaking News | | Saturday, April 13th, 2013: Quijada Strokes 5 Hits It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Ronald Quijada. It was a very special day, one that many players never experience. But he did. Quijada went on a tear and cracked hit after hit off Walla Walla pitching.
When the dust settled on the diamond at Old League Park, he had a career 5-6 day and something he will long remember. And the River Cities Sternwheelers had a 11-1 victory over the Federal Duck.
"Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he joked in the postgame interview.
R. Quijada singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, flied out in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
This season Quijada has hit at a .240 clip and produced 6 RBIs, 3 home runs and 11 runs scored. | | Tuesday, April 9th, 2013: Federal Duck Corujo Will Miss Season The doctors have spoken and Esteban Corujo of the Walla Walla Federal Duck didn't like what he heard. The 28-year-old second baseman is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Corujo sustained his season-ending injury during the River Cities Sternwheelers game yesterday at Old League Park. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while making a defensive play. Today the Walla Walla medical staff reported Corujo had a torn ankle ligaments and would be absent from the lineup for at least 7 months.
In the 2013 season Corujo has hit .250 with 1 home run, 2 RBIs and scored 1 runs. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | 2B Esteban Corujo | torn ankle ligaments | 6-7 months | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 5-9, .357 PCT | | Position in Division | 5th, 7.0 GB | | Record at home | 3-7, .300 PCT | | Record on the road | 2-2, .500 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 2-0, 1.000 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 3-9, .250 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 4-6, .400 PCT | | Record in April | 5-9, .357 PCT |
