| Breaking News | | Monday, April 15th, 2013: 5-5 Game for Pearsall Christopher Pearsall really did a number on the Dans -- but Danville retaliated and did a number on the Steamers -- they beat them 8-5.
Not just anyone can get 5 hits in 5 at-bats. But Pearsall did just that today for Cleveland and gave his batting average a healthy boost, but did not deliver the victory.
"I felt real good in the batter's box today. I had confidence in my swing and knew that it was there and that I could get the job done," the 23-year-old center fielder said after his record-setting performance. "I just wish we had won the game, too."
C. Pearsall singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off M. McCraw in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 9th.
This season Pearsall is batting .404 with 2 home runs. | | Wednesday, April 10th, 2013: Mcgreevy Tosses Shutout Against Dans Bradford Mcgreevy of the New York Gothams was on fire against Danville. He shut them down 8-0 on 5 hits and no runs with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks.
"The first two pitches I'm looking for an out, a ground ball or a fly ball," Mcgreevy said. "I'm trying to get quick outs. I've never been a big believer in trying to strike a guy out from the very first pitch. It's too easy to end up behind in the count doing that."
| | Monday, April 8th, 2013: Week's Top Player: Danville's Shively At the age of 28, Abe Shively might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Danville left fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days collecting the Zotti League Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 14 hits in 24 at-bats, no home runs and 6 RBIs last week in 6 games.
