To date this year, Kaler shows a 3-3 record, 8 starts, 59.2 innings, 53 strikeouts and a 2.72 ERA. | | Sunday, May 4th, 2014: Dayton Goes Hitless Against Lepley The Cincinnati Juggernaut relied on no-hit stuff from Larry Lepley to defeat the Dayton Fliers 1-0 at Juggernaut Ballpark.
"It's quite a thrill," a candid Lepley told the media afterward, "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."
To get his name logged in the records, he stopped Dayton cold, with no hits, surrendering 6 walks and fanning 5 batters, facing only 34 batters.
Lepley said in a postgame interview, "Games like this are something special. They don't come around very often, if ever. I knew from the fifth inning that I had a no-hitter working. I just tried to get it out of my mind, but you just can't. They have too many scoreboards in the park. They are everywhere you look."
In a jovial mood, his manager kiddingly told the reporters, "He definitely made it easy for me today. I didn't have any great decisions to make like I usually have to do. Didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter. I love it when my pitchers pitch a no-hitter."
This year Lepley has worked 45.2 innings with 31 strikeouts en route to a 3-4 record and 4.93 ERA. | | Tuesday, April 29th, 2014: Thorn Holds Juggernaut Scoreless "It was just one of those games, when everything went right. I threw a lot of strikes," Brain Thorn said. "And the pitches they did get to hit, they didn't do anything with them."
The Tacoma Titans pitcher really got it done in his 10-0 shutout victory over the Cincinnati Juggernaut, shutting them down on 2 hits. Thorn issued 2 walks and had 4 strikeouts.
In 2014 thus far, Thorn has tossed 47.1 innings in 6 starts, fanned 27 batters, walked 11 and put up a 1.14 ERA with 4 wins and no losses. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | P Jim Edgar | damaged meniscus (knee) | 2 weeks | Not on DL | | LF Phillip Verner | bruised hand | 3 days | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 19-22, .463 PCT | | Position in Division | 5th, 6.0 GB | | Record at home | 8-12, .400 PCT | | Record on the road | 11-10, .524 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 2-2, .500 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 3-3, .500 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 10-9, .526 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 9-13, .409 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 12-16, .429 PCT | | Record in May | 7-6, .538 PCT |
