| Breaking News | | Sunday, May 4th, 2014: Dayton Goes Hitless Against Lepley The Cincinnati Juggernaut relied on no-hit stuff from Larry Lepley to defeat the Dayton Fliers 1-0 at Juggernaut Ballpark.
"It's quite a thrill," a candid Lepley told the media afterward, "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."
To get his name logged in the records, he stopped Dayton cold, with no hits, surrendering 6 walks and fanning 5 batters, facing only 34 batters.
Lepley said in a postgame interview, "Games like this are something special. They don't come around very often, if ever. I knew from the fifth inning that I had a no-hitter working. I just tried to get it out of my mind, but you just can't. They have too many scoreboards in the park. They are everywhere you look."
In a jovial mood, his manager kiddingly told the reporters, "He definitely made it easy for me today. I didn't have any great decisions to make like I usually have to do. Didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter. I love it when my pitchers pitch a no-hitter."
This year Lepley has worked 45.2 innings with 31 strikeouts en route to a 3-4 record and 4.93 ERA. | | Sunday, April 6th, 2014: Talamantez Tosses Shutout He didn't put a spell on them. It wasn't black magic, it was just old-fashioned good pitching. That's how Bruno Talamantez of the Dayton Fliers blanked the Tacoma Titans 8-0.
After tossing a complete-game 5-hit shutout, he was all smiles, saying, "I threw a lot of my pitches for strikes in this game. I mixed it up and tried keeping these guys off balance."
His own skipper said, "He's at his best when he gets ahead of the hitters." Talamantez walked 5 and struck out 10 in the victory.
The Titans manager commented on their lack of success against him, saying, "He was throwing his breaking ball for strikes and we never capitalized on any of his mistakes."
| | Thursday, April 3rd, 2014: 5-Hit Blitz by Granados There are moments in a player's career that are etched into their memories forever. Tony Granados of the Cincinnati Juggernaut had one of those moments when he went 5 for 5 at the plate today in the 9-7 win over the Dayton Fliers at Juggernaut Ballpark.
The 23-year-old center fielder told reporters in the postgame interview, "This is a day I won't forget soon, but I'll settle to just get a hit or two every day... enough hits to hang around the league a little bit longer... like 10... 15 more years maybe."
T. Granados singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
