The Scorpions have sent 23-year old first baseman Federico Soriano and 27-year old reliever John Stalvey to the Huskers in exchange for 28-year old starting pitcher Alberto Carballo, 33-year old first baseman Richard Peel, a 3rd round draft pick and a 4th round draft pick.
This year Soriano has batted at a .239 pace with 11 hits, no home runs, 4 RBIs and scored 6 times.
Thus far this season Carballo has posted a 2-2 record, started 6 games, struck out 27 batters in 41.1 innings and compiled a 2.40 ERA. |  | Wednesday, April 30th, 2014: Jacobs Socks it to Huskers, Cracks 5 Hits Today at Old League Park John Jacobs put on a hitting clinic as the Brooklyn right fielder sprayed hits all over the ballpark by lashing Hickory pitching for 5 hits in 7 at-bats. But the Huskers didn't really seem to care, they won the game 11-10.
He told BNN reporters after the game that he just hit it where they pitched it. "Too often I try to pull the ball too much. Today I just went with the pitch. It's great to get 5 hits, but it would have been nicer to win the ballgame. too."
J. Jacobs singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off A. Begley in the 8th, hit a two-run single in the 9th, grounded out in the 11th and hit a two-run home run off D. Castanon in the 13th.
