Saturday, August 10th, 2013: Barrientos Goes 5-5 Against Moose Jaw
Players get multi-hit games all the time. But a 5-hit game only comes around once in a blue moon. It happened at Fissures Ballpark when Antoine Barrientos of Jersey City scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the Moose Jaw Rumrunners.

He walloped 5 hits in 5 at-bats in his career-day performance to help the Fissures get by the Rumrunners 12-4.

In a talkative and jovial mood after the game, the right fielder of the Fissures exclaimed, "Whoa, my swing was really, really there today. I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens... good things happen... like 5-5. I could get used to a lot of days like this one."

A. Barrientos tripled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and walked in the 9th.

So far in 2013 Barrientos has hit .287 with 6 home runs and 40 RBIs. He has played in 76 games and scored 46 times.
Saturday, August 3rd, 2013: Ertl Gets 5 Hits
"Believe it or not," said Jersey City catcher David Ertl, "they threw me some good pitches today."

That would be hard to believe for anyone who saw him dispose of the Titanics with a great 5-hit performance.

"He made it look easy," said the Ft. Collins manager, who saw his team fall to the Jersey City Fissures, 14-10. "Hats off to him!"

D. Ertl doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off D. Goodfellow in the 8th.

This year Ertl has socked 85 hits in 275 at-bats for a .309 average with 1 home run. He is getting on base at a .365 pace and his totals also include 34 RBIs and 37 runs scored.
Thursday, August 1st, 2013: Fissures Reliever Cops Pitching Award
"The kid had it all working last month," a veteran teammate told reporters. "He keeps up those kind of numbers, we may have to start inviting him out with us after the games."

Franklin Erickson put together a very solid month to take home the Sub League 2's top pitching honor in July.

The 25-year-old reliever threw with confidence some veteran's lack. In 14 relief appearances he raked in no saves and 19 strikeouts in 21.1 innings as he put together his 3-0 record and 0.00 ERA.

In 2013 Erickson has collected 2 saves in 51 relief appearances. He has also notched 57 strikeouts and 41 walks in 70.2 innings while registering a 4.08 ERA and a 5-5 won-lost record.
