Relying on pinpoint control and a good array of pitches, Wesley Kumar of the Saskatoon Amigos held the Hickory Huskers scoreless today. He scattered 2 hits over 9 innings and fanned 2 on his way to the 3-0 victory.
So far this year Kumar has compiled a 3-3 record with a 3.79 ERA.

 | Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014: Ramirez Sidelined for 2 Weeks
Dealing with injuries is part of the game and now Demarcus Ramirez of the Amigos knows this firsthand. He was injured against the Maui Mashers while throwing a pitch. Diagnosed as a strained bicep tendon, the Saskatoon starting pitcher is expected to miss 2 weeks. Ramirez was a little upset, but understands it comes with the territory. "Baseball can be a contact sport. You try to be careful, but no matter how careful you are, injuries happen."
This year Ramirez has a 1-2 record with a 4.75 ERA in 6 starts.

Joey Chikao at first refused to leave today's Seattle-Saskatoon game after he suffered a herniated disc while throwing a pitch. But his manager convinced him not to be foolish. "I want to be on the field," the feisty Saskatoon reliever said. "I'll play through just about anything." Given time to reflect on the situation, he knew it was in his best interest to get immediate treatment. The injury is expected to keep Chikao out of action for 7-8 weeks.
