| Breaking News | | Friday, August 16th, 2013: Gold Sox Win Round 1
It was a storybook year for the Avon Gold Sox as they closed out a 3-1 series win over the Kent Kings to claim the 2013 Round 1. They wrapped it up with a 8-5 victory to cap an incredible season and brought home their 1st championship.
The Gold Sox manager gave his view of the series, "We had a lot of things going for us, offense and defense doing it at the right time. That's what it takes to win a Round 1."
"We're disappointed we lost, but we're also very proud of what we did all year," said the Kings manager. "They played better baseball than us and they beat us."
During the Sub League 2 regular season Avon put up a 72-48 record and finished first.

 | Friday, August 9th, 2013: Gold Sox Lose Unknown for Season
The doctors have spoken and Joe Unknown of the Avon Gold Sox didn't like what he heard. The 22-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Unknown sustained his season-ending injury during the Durango Crawdads game yesterday at Gold Sox Ballpark. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Avon medical staff reported Unknown had a torn labrum and would be absent from the lineup for at least 12 months.

 | Tuesday, June 25th, 2013: Perez Stretches Hit String to 20
The streak is alive and well -- at least for today.
Isaac Perez did it again. He bashed 2 hits in today's game and for the last 20 games in a row has collected at least one hit. The 19-year-old Caprica first baseman extended his streak as the Buccaners beat the Avon Gold Sox 10-4 at Ballpark of Soldotna.
I. Perez flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, walked in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
This year Perez is batting .332 with 100 hits and no home runs. He has scored 40 times and has batted in 29 runs.
