| Breaking News |  | Thursday, August 1st, 2013: Kaler Garners SL1 #1 Pitcher Award
In July, Kendrick Kaler tore through the Sub League 1 like a seasoned veteran -- quite impressive for a player only 19 years old.
The young Amsterdam starter posted a 5-1 mark and an ERA of 1.68 to earn the Pitcher of the Month award. In 48.1 innings he collected 29 strikeouts while limiting the opposition to a .226 average.
In 20 starts this season Kaler has compiled a 13-3 record and a 2.73 ERA.

| Thursday, August 1st, 2013: Ugarte Gets SL1 Batter of the Month Trophy
Benito Ugarte put together a good July to earn the Sub League 1 Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Amsterdam officials that he belongs on the big league roster.
The Dutch Ovens shortstop posted a .333 batting average with 1 home run, 24 RBIs and 19 runs scored.
In 2013 Ugarte is batting .292 with 1 home run and 34 RBIs.

| Monday, July 22nd, 2013: Week's Best Player: Amsterdam's Mendez
Raul Mendez is respected by most Amsterdam Dutch Ovens fans for his no-frills style of play. The 26-year-old right fielder went about his business with vigor last week to grab the Sub League 1 Player of the Week honors.
He compiled a .357 average (10-28) with 3 home runs, 9 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
A look at his 2013 stats shows Mendez with a .260 average, 14 home runs, 56 RBIs and 63 runs scored. He has played in 100 games.
