| Breaking News | | Saturday, July 27th, 2013: Arenas 5-6 for Jersey City "It was almost like batting practice. I saw the ball very well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted." That's what Jersey City first baseman Julian Arenas said to BNN reporters after his fantastic 5-6 day against the Kalmar Unionists at Fissures Ballpark. "I got some good counts and used the whole field."
The Fissures had a good day, too, and won the ballgame 8-7.
J. Arenas struck out in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and singled in the 10th.
This year Arenas is batting .392 with no home runs and 12 RBIs. | | Friday, July 26th, 2013: Stairs Hurls Fissures to Shutout Victory "I felt great out there. After the second or third inning, I got real comfortable," Ralph Stairs said in his postgame interview. "Hopefully this is a building block for me. I'm hoping for a few more starts like this."
The Jersey City hurler scored a 10-0 shutout victory over the Unionists, stopping them on 3 hits. He rung up 8 strikeouts and gave up 4 walks in today's performance.
In 21 starts this season Stairs has fashioned a 6-7 record and a 3.85 ERA. | | Monday, July 1st, 2013: Year Ends for Carmelo Paredes in Kalmar The news is bad in Kalmar. The Unionists have lost the services of shortstop Carmelo Paredes for the rest of the season due to a fractured skull. Paredes was injured in a recent game with the Flatbush Pups while being hit by a pitch and is expected to miss 13 months.
This year Paredes has hit at a .269 pace and produced 39 RBIs, 6 home runs and scored 52 runs. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 72-48, .600 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 40-20, .667 PCT | | Record on the road | 32-28, .533 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 6-7, .462 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 25-15, .625 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 27-17, .614 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 45-31, .592 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 19-9, .679 PCT | | Record in May | 17-12, .586 PCT | | Record in June | 15-10, .600 PCT | | Record in July | 17-12, .586 PCT | | Record in August | 4-5, .444 PCT |
