There's something special about a guy who can stride up to the plate and put the ball anywhere -- in the stands, off the wall, into the gap, down the third base line. You name the place and Alvin Hood probably put it there on his way to winning the Sub League 2 AA Outstanding Hitter Award for 2013.
The Brighton right fielder belted out 165 hits in compiling a .386 batting average and racked up 34 doubles, 6 triples, 19 home runs, 74 RBIs and 91 runs scored.

Snap, crackle and pop!
In July, Alvin Hood snapped up the Sub League 2 Batter of the Month trophy by cracking 41 hits and popping 9 home runs.
For the month he hit a solid .402 with 23 RBIs and 27 runs scored. The Brighton right fielder also picked up 27 walks to compile a .519 on-base percentage.
This season Hood is hitting .396 with 155 hits, 17 home runs, 67 RBIs, scored 84 runs and played in 111 games.

| Monday, July 22nd, 2013: Hood on the Attack, Player of the Week
26-year-old Alvin Hood sent shock waves through SDMB Double A last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Sub League 2 Player of the Week Award.
A newcomer to the league, Hood made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .357 average, 10 hits in 28 at-bats, 4 home runs and 8 RBI.
Where the Brighton Apples right fielder goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Hood certainly made his mark last week.
In his season totals, Hood has 14 home runs, .393 BA, .484 OBP, 60 RBIs and 78 runs scored. He has played in 102 games.
