| Breaking News | | Saturday, August 10th, 2013: Perez's Hit Streak Over The Caprica Buccaners won the game 8-4 over the Springfield Rifles. At the same time the Rifles mound corps did what no other team could do. They stopped the 28-game hitting streak of Buccaners first baseman Isaac Perez. But that was still not enough to win the game.
"Our pitchers may have focused a bit too much on stopping Perez," the Springfield manager commented afterward. "He had a nice hitting streak going, but the Buccaners have other hitters and they did their job today."
In his stats this season, Perez has posted a batting average of .352 with 168 hits in 477 at-bats, 3 home runs and 55 RBIs. He has also scored 59 runs, walked 43 times and compiled a .405 OBP. | | Sunday, July 28th, 2013: 5 Hits for Beauties Hill Next time the Rifles might think twice about pitching to George Hill. Today at Crisis Stadium the Sharon first baseman really burned Springfield pitching, going 5-for-6 in the Beauties 15-10 triumph.
"When he's seeing the ball well," his skipper told reporters, "he can probably stroke a base hit blindfolded."
G. Hill flied out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, walked in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th, flied out in the 10th, singled in the 12th and hit a three-run home run off J. Unknown in the 13th.
In his stats this season, Hill has posted a batting average of .296 with 126 hits in 426 at-bats, 8 home runs and 62 RBIs. He has also scored 64 runs, walked 73 times and compiled a .403 OBP. | | Monday, July 8th, 2013: Week's #1 Player Honored by SL2 Dennis Bordeaux burst onto the Sub League 2 stage in a big way last week.
